Live emergency department updates for Oracle Health hospitals
EDFlow works with Oracle Health Millennium and FirstNet through the outbound HL7 v2 interfaces your integration engine already receives, with FHIR R4 for the encounter care team and an optional write-back path for patient requests.
At a glance
Outbound HL7 v2
Millennium's outbound ADT, order and result-status messages, received and minimized by your engine.
FHIR R4 CareTeam
Encounter-level care teams with roles and periods from the Millennium FHIR R4 APIs.
Optional write-back
Patient requests as secure professional messages to the provider message centre, in a later phase.
The ED feed from Millennium
FirstNet, Millennium's emergency department solution, has a tracking board, provider check-in and assignment, and notifications for triage, throughput milestones and results. Millennium sends HL7 v2 outbound through Oracle's interface tooling to the hospital's integration engine, which filters the emergency department's traffic and maps it to normalized events.
Identifiers are the visit-level financial number (FIN) and the medical record number. Both are stored only as keyed hashes; neither is ever shown to a patient or placed in a URL.
FHIR R4 with Millennium
- CareTeam supports encounter-level care teams with participant roles and periods (US Core CareTeam).[1]
- Communication.Create sends secure professional messages: recipients are a Practitioner or Group, the sender is a Practitioner, and the category is notification or reminder.[2]
- Bulk Data Group export works with a registered bulk SMART app, useful for de-identified turnaround history.[3]
- Subscriptions are not in the public R4 documentation, so events come from HL7 v2 outbound.
What to confirm with your Oracle Health team
- The name of your outbound interface tooling, and whether tracking-board events can be exported.
- Which results and orders feeds already leave Millennium for lab and imaging systems.
- A system account in Oracle's code Console if FHIR enrichment is used.
- Your emergency department location codes and the roles you want shown to patients.

Where does the care team come from?
Oracle Health's FHIR R4 CareTeam supports encounter-level care teams with participant roles and periods, which fits the emergency care team well. Names and roles can also come from the HL7 v2 feed.
