Bilingual layout

English and French side by side: length, typography, dates and times.

Rules

  • French runs 15 to 30 % longer: pills wrap, buttons grow, nothing truncates. Check every screen in the pseudo-locale (en-XA).
  • French typography: a no-break space before ":" and inside « », none before ; ? !, and 24-hour times written « 21 h 14 ».
  • Each language appears in its own name, never as a flag; the choice sets lang on the page.
  • Dates never rely on order alone: ISO YYYY-MM-DD for entry, spelled-out months for reading.
